The Coolest New Musical About Being a Loser

It’s already “one of the most popular new musicals in America,” raves The New York Times. And The Wall Street Journal cheers, “It’s going to hit big—and deservedly so!” Now, direct from its sold-out New York premiere, BE MORE CHILL is coming to Broadway. Discover this hilariously honest show for yourself, featuring an electric, ear-worm filled score by “one of Broadway’s next great songwriters” (Billboard).

What if popularity came in a pill? Would you take it, no questions asked? In BE MORE CHILL, achieving the “perfect life” is now possible thanks to some mysterious new technology—but it comes at a cost that’s not as easy to swallow. What could possibly go wrong? Blending the contemporary with retro sci-fi, this thrillingly exciting, comically subversive, and deeply felt new musical takes on the competing voices in all of our heads. And ultimately proves, there’s never been a better time in history to be yourself—especially if you’re a loser…geek…or whatever.

Be More Chill, the original musical with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz is headed to Broadway! Most recently Stephen Brackett directed and Chase Brock choreographed the limited off-Broadway engagement July 26 – September 30 at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center. A NEW REVOLUTION FROM THE COMPOSER AND LYRICIST OF BE MORE CHILL!

Joe Iconis is “…The Future of Musical Theater.”—The New York Times

This show is for you if…

  • You want to see some badass chicks discover their inner rebel
  • You want to be transported to a 1962 Juvie Hall for girls
  • Your friend group is a wacky and dysfunctional family but you LOVE them anyway
  • You know that Pride started with a riot
  • You want to dismantle the system before it dismantles you
  • You want to see the start of a musical theater revolution
  • Finding love in unexpected places makes you cry a little…but in a good way?
  • Good music gives you the chills

"A turbulent rock romance by Joe Iconis, composer and lyricist of the worldwide sensation Be More Chill! Set in a 1960s Juvie Hall, Love in Hate Nation uses classic “bad girl” movies as the inspiration for the story of young people caught between eras of a changing America. Sixteen-year old Susannah Son is carted off to the National Reformatory for Girls to get her head put on straight. There she meets the aggressively incorrigible Sheila Nail, and a relationship forms which leads to an all-out “revolution in the institution” as they attempt to break out of the boxes society has created around them. Girl Group Wall of Sound harmonies are filtered through a punk rock spirit in this rebellious and romantic new musical."  Two River Theater
